The AmBility program goal is to research and produce assistance devices that AMBUCS™ can provide to the public, such as the AmTryke® and to provide these free of charge.
Closer to home, Dodge City AMBUCS™ are well known for their community service. The AMBUCS™ Park at the Beeson Arboretum is the primary benefactor of the Dodge City AMBUCS™ with over $35,000 donated to date. Other ongoing community services include: Accessible ramps, a Christmas party for the Special Olympic Athletes and Arrowhead West Clients, donations to Special Olympics, local scholarships for therapy assistant students, and an emergency fund to give immediate help to those in need. We also facilitate the Western Parade during Dodge City Days.
Our major fundraiser is a Golf Tournament during Dodge City Days. We also host a Charity Auction at Central Station Bar & Grill.
Dodge City AMBUCS™ are known throughout the association as the "fun" club. Along with the weekly meetings, four to eight social events are planned each year to encourage friendships with members, their spouses and families.
The membership's diverse backgrounds of professional careers make the Dodge City AMBUCS™ one of the most vibrant service organizations in the area today.
Dodge City AMBUCS™ have created a long tradition of community service by involving members in simple yet effective projects. An example of these projects includes: many wheel chair ramps, sand volleyball court in Wright Park, AmTrykes, wheelchairs, braces, voice activated computers, and have even built a drain table.
Many members join our chapter to make more business contacts; however, they inevitably find supporting AMBUCS™ causes even more fulfilling than they expected. Guest speakers at the weekly breakfasts keep members abreast of local events, activities, and new events, with open discussion of timely topics.
The Dodge City AMBUCS™ have a strong presence within the national association, recently winning several national awards. The chapter has served as the sponsor for three other chapters.
Membership in AMBUCS™ is open to both men and women. The club meets each Monday evening at 7:00 PM at the Dodge City Senior Citizens Center.
